To Who It May Concern:

I want to file a complaint against Mr. Alan Stuart Graf. Alan Graf is an attorney who represented a patient of this office. Following is the history and subsequent events that (I feel) should be reported.

Alan Graf’s office called to schedule an appointment to receive medical testimony from Dr Lawrence Tremaine DO, on behalf of his client. The original date of this teleconference was to be August 15th. Dr Tremaine’s schedule was blocked out (meaning no patients scheduled) for 20 minutes so he would have adequate time available for said teleconference. Alan Graf’s conference did not call Dr Tremaine on this day. Our receptionist called Alan Graf’s office on the afternoon of the 15th to ask if the teleconference should be rescheduled. At that time it was rescheduled for August 19th. Alan Graf and Dr Tremaine did indeed have the teleconference on that date. Alan Graf also requested that Dr Tremaine compose a letter to state in writing what he had attested to over the phone.

When a bill was sent to Alan Graf’s office for Dr Tremaine’s services, there was a charge for the appointment that Alan Graf had on the 15th of August. Alan Graf noted that Dr Tremaine could not “make it that day” and proceeded to deduct that charge from his payment. Upon receipt of Alan Graf’s payment a letter was generated to again ask for compensation for Dr Tremaine’s time.

The letter I received back from Alan Graf was both shocking and unprofessional. I find it difficult to believe that such a response was (in Alan Graf’s opinion) warranted.

Please find copies of all pertinent documents.

I realize that no formal action will be taken based on this complaint, however, I feel it is important to keep you informed of the practices of your members.

Also, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.

Dear Dr Tremaine:

I was billed by your office for a phone conference in which I called your office but you were not available. Your office staff disagrees calling me a “liar”. I don’t appreciate the false accusation, yet I will not let it deter me from doing what is right. Also please teach them some manners.

I return my check to you for $125.00 for services rendered. Take it or leave it. That is all that will be forthcoming from this office.

Sincerely,

Alan Graf

PS You might consider charging your clients on a contingent basis like I do, e.g., if you don’t cure them of their illness they don’t have to pay you-what a novel idea!
